New Book Reveals Cure For Cravings

COMMUNICATE WITH SUBCONSCIOUS

Zephyrhills resident Nancy Shaffer said she is now able to fit into clothes she hasn’t worn in years, thanks to the Wellness Seminar she attended in February.

“I used to love cookies and French fries and now they don’t appeal to me anymore,” Shaffer said.  “I haven’t had anything greasy since I went to the seminar in February.  It has done two things for me.  I have lost weight, and I listen to her tape before I go to sleep, and it helps me relax.”

Shaffer attended a seminar given by Rena Greenberg, founder of Wellness Seminars, at the University Community Hospital (UCH).  The methods Greenberg teaches at her seminars to stop cravings are now available in her new book, “The Craving Cure: Break the Hold Carbs and Sweets Have On Your Life.”  She hopes to help people across the country learn strategies for curbing food cravings.

In the book, Greenberg tries to teach people how to stop the cravings and live a healthier life without dieting.

“I have been doing weight loss programs in hospitals for 18 years throughout the country,” Greenberg said.  “one thing most people struggle with is the cravings.  I wanted to write a book to address the physical and mental aspects of cravings.  I want to help people break the craving state and achieve a feeling of empowerment and control.”

Leianne Sorensen of Land O’Lakes is losing weight due to her new mindset, thanks to the seminar she attended in January at UCH.

“I went to her seminar and bought one of her CD’,” Sorensen said.  “It has given me a different mindset in the way I look at food.  I see greasy, fattening food in a completely different way.  I used to love fried foods and Twinkies.”

Sorensen said she has already lost six pounds, but that is only the beginning.

“I work long hours sitting in front of a computer every day,” Sorensen said.  “I started walking last week and already the excitement is there.  I am eating healthier and that has an affect on how I feel.  I am excited and I am gearing towards losing another 15 pounds.”

Even though Sorensen is losing weight, she said it is not like being on a diet.

I used to eat fattening foods until they would make me sick, now only one or two pieces are all I need,” :Sorensen said.  “I am not giving up what I like, I just eat less of it.  I have a whole new outlook now.”

Shaffer has lost 15 pounds and she plans to lose another 10 pounds.

“I think it is great the weight is coming off slowly,” Shaffer said.  “I think I will have a better chance of keeping it off.  Every once in a while I do have a craving, but I will only eat a small portion.  I feel so much better about myself.  I am wearing clothes I haven’t worn in years.”

Shaffer said once her knee is feeling better, she is going to start walking.

“I should be exercising and I think if I was I might have lost more weight,” Shaffer said.  “I have tried all kinds of diets, but when I would stop then I would put the weight back on.  I don’t think that will happen with this.”

Greenberg’s seminars, held in hospitals throughout the country, teach people how to stop cravings.

“In the seminar, she had us close our eyes an picture ourselves as we would like to look,” Sorensen said.  “She uses hypnosis at it’s nothing like what you would see in the movies.  You are fully aware; it is just a way to get to your deeper subconscious.  It really works.

Greenberg said she uses hypnosis because it helps a person achieve permanent success.  But, she stresses, a person can buy her book and have everything they need.

“I have exercise for people to read and do,” Greenberg said.  “If a person has the chance to go to the seminars, that is great and it is a wonderful experience.  Even if they can’t go to the seminar, the book has everything a person would need.  There is so much information to use.  The book helps people to internalize a new way of thinking about food.”

Greenberg said she uses hypnosis as a way of speaking to the subconscious mind.

“All hypnosis is self-hypnosis,” Greenberg said.  “It is just a way to get to the subconscious mind, the part of the mind that is in control of our lives.  I teach people to communicate with their subconscious mind.”

Greenberg outlines a way to cleanse the body and rid it of physical cravings fro fattening foods by filling it with foods with high nutrition.

“I try to teach people to change the state of mind where they are craving the wrong food,” Greenberg said.  “I am helping people to change their belief system.  I have been teaching this method to thousands of people through the years.  The point is so that we never have to diet again.  We can leave the whole diet mentality behind us, it just leads to failure.  It has to be a permanent mindset if it is going to work.”

Greenberg said she has made it her mission to help people.

“I want to motivate people through love and faith,” Greenberg said.  “I want to help people get away from the mentality of motivation through blame and guilt.  I want people to believe in themselves and help them to succeed.”
