“I was doing great but in my Weight Loss then I blew it ,” Jean lamented.

“How could I go back to my old eating habits after I’d been doing so well?” she cried.

My heart went out to Jean as I listened to her recount her story about ‘blowing her diet’ and what this meant to her Weight Loss Success.

If you Have you ever felt a tidal wave of discouragement after realizing that you had reverted to old behaviors that you had sworn off keep reading to make your Weight Loss journey successful...

If so, welcome to the human race!

The problem with making mistakes is not making them, but it’s following those errors with three other fatal actions that make your weight loss success impossible:

  • 1. Failing to correct your mistakes.
  • 2. Spending endless amounts of time beating yourself up, judging yourself, or analyzing and trying to figure out why you slipped up.
  • 3. Assuming that the mistake is who you really are and all the evidence to the contrary where you made right and productive choices was false and temporary.

If you were on a trip and made a wrong turn, would you keep going, even after you realized that you were heading in the wrong direction?

Of course, not!

You would cut your losses and turn around as soon as you became aware of your mistake.

If you were carrying a tray of glasses and one fell, would you stand there holding the tray trying to figure out, “What’s wrong with me?!”

Would you throw the rest of the glasses down, too, and declare yourself a hopeless klutz?!

Or would you simply set the tray down, bend over, and start cleaning up the broken glass, wipe up the spill, and move on?

While these examples seem absurd, how do you react when you misstep when it comes to sticking to your weight loss plan or releasing unwanted habits?

Here are 6 Keys to Weight Loss Success to help you get back on track when you have a setback...

1

Open Your Awareness for Weight Loss Success...

The reason we make mistakes is that we temporarily go “unconscious.”

Our auto-pilot brain takes over and we just start doing whatever is comfortable—whether that is reaching for a cigarette, over-eating, grabbing a candy bar to soothe ourselves, or yelling at someone who has provoked us.

The good thing about realizing that we just behaved in a way that is counter-productive to how we want to live our lives is that it’s an opportunity for self-growth.

Set your intention to notice, more and more quickly each time, when you go astray. Then, with this awareness, you can make a new choice for your weight loss success journey.

2

for weight loss success, Refrain from Beating Yourself Up...

Once you notice what you’ve done, don’t spend a whole lot of time analyzing what happened.

After you see what your trigger was, let it go.

Perpetuating your story will only cause you to want to justify or judge yourself.

You’ve already determined that you wish you had acted differently, so there’s no benefit to defending or condemning yourself internally (or getting others involved in your story).

It will only get you caught in endless, painful, and counter-productive ‘mind-spinning’.

Though the mind may try to convince you that this is the way to a solution, it’s not.

Ongoing analyzing and judging only perpetuates bad feelings and increases the likelihood that you’ll repeat the unwanted behavior towards your weight loss success.

3

Feel your Feelings...

Instead, welcome all your feelings. This may seem very hard, and it can indeed be challenging but it truly is the way to freedom.

Typically when we feel anger, sadness or any kind of emotional pain, we either express or suppress it.

Covering over difficult feelings is the number one cause of addiction. We don’t want to feel what we’re feeling so we reach out to find anything to soothe ourselves and block the pain.

Trouble is, that choice leads to a whole lot of additional pain.

Even though it feels counter-intuitive to welcome emotional pain, it can be the fastest way to the other side, where there is deep peace and love.

What meaning are you giving to the pain?

Detach from your story about why everything is happening as it is. Can you adopt the attitude that things are happening exactly as they are supposed to?

What if nothing means what you think it does?

Could this grief, fear or jealousy simply be there because it’s your share of the emotional pain that human beings experience?

4
Connect to Something Greater...

Now is the time to connect to your greater subconscious mind.

The reason you practice self-hypnosis is to get more in touch with your greater nature—the part of you beyond your thoughts—that is stronger than every transient feeling.

Let the vast space in the depths of your heart hold you and whatever you are feeling in the immense sea of compassion that resides within.

Bring in images of nature to soothe you and help you to make contact with your infinite spirit.

This infinite spirit is your greater intuition and intelligence beyond the chattering mind that wants to keep you small.

Bow your mind and heart to this source of greatness that’s within you, that is beyond any of your thoughts and actions.

5
Get Guidance...

Ask your wise, intuitive self to show you a new perspective and to teach you what you need to learn in your weight loss success journey.

Even though it so often feels like things just happen to us randomly and sometimes unfairly, we often forget that in many cases, it is us who are planting seeds and then reaping what we planted.

Blaming ourselves never helps, but understanding does.

Notice if you “slipped up” on your eating plan because you stopped practicing self-hypnosis, gave up planning ahead, or started to indulge in negative self-talk and victim-thinking.

Have the courage to look at yourself without judgment but rather with a deep desire to help yourself.

Instead of feeling at the effect of the friend who hurt you, look back on ways that you spoke to your friend that may have put him off.

Even if your friend completely overreacted and gave you back much more pain than you deserved, the only thing in your control is your own Perceptions and behaviors.

Ask your wise self what you could’ve done differently and listen. This is an act of empowerment and self-love.

6
Weight Loss Success Requires Taking the Right Action...

The only benefit to doing any of these steps is to ultimately change your behavior.

You can’t change the past whether the past is 10 years ago, your childhood, or 5 minutes ago.

All you can do is make a commitment to take a different, more positive action right now.

Remember:

 what you focus on grows...

As Jean went over these 6 steps, she came to see that she had been downplaying her solid, productive actions like going back to the gym and quitting soda. Instead she found herself obsessing about every backslide.

She made a decision to take control of her life by focusing on the positive actions she could commit to. She started listening to her hypnosis audio sessions, planning her meals, and writing down her thoughts and her successes.

For the next 24 hours, every time your mind wanders, bring it back to what a miracle your life is.

You are so much more than your thoughts and emotions.

Honor your feelings and at the same time connect to the vastness, beauty, love, and wisdom that you are.

Ask for guidance from your wisest self, listen, and then choose the action that will lead you to where you want to be!
